ALUMNI AWARDS

Since 2014, UCEAP has presented awards of achievement and recognition to outstanding alumni. Each June, UCEAP honors two exceptional alumni for their professional and civic achievements. We are honored to recognize UCEAP alumni for professional excellence, extraordinary service, and contributions to the international education or study abroad community. 

The Linda Duttenhaver Distinguished Alumni Award

Named in honor of UCEAP alumna Linda Duttenhaver, the Distinguished Alumni Award is the highest honor that UCEAP bestows upon an outstanding alumna or alumnus.  The award salutes the achievements of alumni who have demonstrated a record of distinguished service and extraordinary achievement in a particular discipline or organization. The awardee will have made a positive impact on our global community and be an inspiration to current students and alumni.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be a UCEAP alumni. For the purpose of this award, alumni is defined as having completed a UCEAP program.
  • Current UCEAP employees, campus study abroad staff, UCEAP affiliated UC faculty, or anyone providing services to UCEAP currently, are not eligible for the award.

The UCEAP Emerging Leader Award

Each year, UCEAP recognizes one individual to receive the Emerging Leader Award. This award recognizes an outstanding UCEAP alumnus or alumna who has graduated within the past 15 years and has a record of extraordinary service and achievement. 

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be a UCEAP alumni. For the purpose of this award, alumni is defined as having completed a UCEAP program.
  • Must have participated on a program with UCEAP within the past 15 years.
  • Current UCEAP employees, campus study abroad staff, UCEAP affiliated UC faculty, or anyone providing services to UCEAP currently, are not eligible for the award.

How to Nominate

Alumni, faculty, and staff are encouraged to nominate deserving alumni for this award. Nomination are submitted using the Alumni Awards Nomination Form. Once nominated, the individual’s name remains in consideration for a total of three years. To be considered for this cycle, nominations must be received by March 1. All entries received after the deadline will be considered for the following year. Nominations are accepted year round.

METHOD OF RECIPIENT SELECTION

A selection committee will be formed to review and select individuals from the eligible nominations. The selection committee will include representation from UCEAP systemwide and study center staff, UCEAP alumni, and UC campus representatives.
